Mark has been appointed Principal Designate of Callywith College and will lead the College through its pre-opening year in preparation for September 2017 when he will become Principal and the college will welcome its first cohort of students. As Director of Curriculum at Truro and Penwith College for the past 6 years, Mark has played a key role in the Callywith project from its initial inception and will bring 17 years of post-16 experience and the Truro and Penwith College experience to Callywith.
Lucy has been appointed as one of two Assistant Principals and will lead on the Callywith College student experience. She has led both a highly successful curriculum area and more recently has managed the student services team at Truro and Penwith College and will bring a wealth of experience in ensuring students receive the best possible support at the College.
Lucy will be ensuring all students experience outstanding provision that raises their aspirations, supports them to achieve their full potential and enables them to exceed their expectations.
Jon has been appointed as one of two Assistant Principals and will lead on teaching and learning at Callywith College. Having been Team Leader for Science at Truro College and leading on the Medics’ Academy which has supported hundreds of aspiring doctors, vets and dentists, Jon will bring his vast experience to the role.
He will also be ensuring that the subject specialists delivering the College's courses are given the best possible environment to help students achieve outstanding results.
Kate, who has been working at Truro College as a Lecturer of Chemistry since 2008, will be involved in the set-up of the new chemistry department at Callywith College which will include fantastic facilities, equipment and the latest technology. She will also be teaching both the Chemistry A Level and the chemistry aspects of the Extended Diploma in Applied Science.
Julie, who since 2005, has been a Deputy Team Leader at Truro College; with specific responsibility for the sports academy provision as well as teaching on PE and Sport courses, will be involved in the delivery of A Level PE and the Level 3 Extended Diploma in Sport at Callywith College. She will also be involved in setting up and running the Football, Rugby and Netball academies at the College.
Garry, who is currently a Lecturer in Mathematics at Truro College, will be responsible for the delivery of A Level Maths and Further Maths at Callywith College. Garry brings with him five years of experience teaching at A level and will also be involved in organising additional maths-related activities throughout the year including the senior maths challenge in November.
Melissa, who has taught at both Truro and Penwith College, will be teaching Health and Social Care at Callywith, ensuring that students are receiving the best possible education within this curriculum area and that each student is supported holistically, to enable them to achieve their goals.
Lisa, who is currently a Lecturer in Psychology at Truro College, will be developing and delivering an exciting and successful Psychology A Level course at Callywith College. Lisa will also be a tutor at the College, as part of the strong pastoral care Callywith will offer.
Vince, who currently teaches Geology at Truro College, will be responsible for establishing and delivering the new linear specification A-Level Geology course at Callywith College.
Amy will be supporting the learning in the art, design and photography classrooms, preparing the equipment and materials for teaching and providing technical support to students.
Babs, who is currently a Lecturer in Biology at Truro College, will be involved in setting up the Biology provision for Callywith College including A Level Biology, the Biology content of the Applied Science National Diploma and the Medics Academy and promoting the Biology Conservation Expedition to Honduras in the summer of 2018.
Lindsey, who is currently a Lecturer in Media at Truro College, will be running both vocational and A Level media qualifications at Callywith College.
Katie, who is currently a Lecturer in Photography at Truro College, will be developing a platform for the subject at Callywith, inspiring and empowering students with both photographic skills and knowledge.
Dom, who currently teaches Modern History at Penwith College, will teach A Level History at Callywith, teaching the knowledge, understanding and skills required to succeed in history by creating a welcoming, supportive and enjoyable experience for students to provide them with the best possible chances of success.
Laura, who is currently a lecturer in Spanish at Truro College, will be teaching A Level Spanish at Callywith and will contribute to building a strong and successful languages team.
Tracey, who has worked at Truro and Penwith College for three years, teaching A Level English Literature, will be responsible for the implementation and delivery of all A Level English courses offered at Callywith, preparing, adapting and creating resources to ensure that a high standard of provision is available to all students.
Adam, who is currently a Photography Lecturer at Penwith College, will be developing the new photography department to ensure that all students have an outstanding experience, using first class equipment in a supportive and engaging environment.
Jen, who began her teaching career at Truro College in 2000 and for the past five years, has been Deputy Team Leader for Health and Social Care at the College, will establish and deliver both A Level Sociology and the Extended Diplomas in Health and Social Care at Callywith College, alongside offering pastoral support as a personal tutor.
Trevor, who has been teaching in schools and colleges for the past 13 years, will be teaching A Level Business, A Level Economics and BTEC Level 3 Business at Callywith College.
Matt, who will be responsible for establishing and delivering A Level Geography and Environmental Science courses at Callywith and is currently a Lecturer in the subjects at Truro College, will be ensuring the courses provided are of the same high quality, allowing students to achieve their best. In addition to his academic role, Matt will be coordinating the Duke of Edinburgh Award programme.
