Creative Media Production & Technology Diploma students were given the inside track on how to break into TV from the best creative talent in the South West.

Callywith College's Creative Media Production & Technology Diploma students were given the inside track on how to break into TV from the best creative talent in the South West this month.

With TV credits from the Sky hit drama filmed in Cornwall; Delicious, to cop series Luther, a panel of the South West's leading TV producers and writers revealed how to break into media at an event run by the Royal Television Society in Plymouth.

Screenwriter Dan Sefton, TV producer Philippa Giles and host Dr Kingsley Marshall from the RTS discuss their work on the Sky drama Delicious.

Media Production student Connor said: "The event gave us a really useful insight into how to break into the industry and start our careers."

Fellow student Lucas said: "It was great to get the chance to meet top industry professionals and hear their advice and tips for getting work experience and jobs."

Media Production Lecturer Lindsey Kennedy said: “The event brought together top TV talent from across the South West and gave our students a real insight into how to secure work experience and establish a career in this industry. There is opportunity out there for creative people but it does take determination and a willingness to work hard.

"We also discovered more about how a production is created from script to screen and the students were able to quiz screenwriter Dan Sefton and executive producer Phillippa Giles about their work on the hit Sky drama Delicious, which was filmed in Cornwall."
