Amy Scragg, Art and Photography Technician

Amy supports the learning in the art, design and photography classrooms, preparing the equipment and materials for teaching and providing technical support to students.

What is your background in education?

I am a Practicing Textile Artist and have been selling my own artwork for the past 3 years. I have previously completed a teaching qualification, a degree in Textile Design, an Art Foundation and A-levels in Art and Textiles.

What inspired you to pursue a career in education?

I have always been encouraged to study subjects that I enjoy, so that is why I have pursued my passion for creativity, art, textiles and photography.

What does your role involve?

My role includes supporting the learning in the art, design and photography classrooms, preparing the equipment and materials for teaching and providing technical support to students.

Why do you think Cornwall needs Callywith College?

The College is a great asset to Bodmin and brings the outstanding qualities of Truro College to North Cornwall.

What about working with Callywith College do you enjoy the most?

Being in a job where creativity, problem solving and artistic exploration is a massive part of the everyday.

What one thing about you might surprise people?

I like to surf.

When you’re not working, what is your favourite thing to do?

Creating artwork inspired by the Cornish Coast and being by or in the sea.
