Kayley-Ann Raymond - Lead Science Technician

Kayley-Ann supports staff and students within all aspects of practical science. She is also responsible for all maintenance, ordering and upkeep of science equipment.

What is your background in education?

I studied a National Diploma in Applied Science at Truro College and completed a BSc Degree with the Open University. Since finishing college, I have been a Science Technician for over ten years.

What inspired you to pursue a career in education?

When studying at college, I always enjoyed the practical aspect of science, so took the opportunity to pursue a career within science education that involves a lot of practical problem solving. I am passionate about inspiring students within all science subjects.

What does your role involve?

My role involves supporting staff and students within all aspects of practical science. As lead Science Technician, I am responsible for all maintenance, ordering and upkeep of science equipment.

Why do you think Cornwall needs Callywith College?

I think that all students from North and East Cornwall should have access to the amazing teaching and facilities that Truro College provides without having to face long bus journeys.

What one thing about you might surprise people?

I am a massive rugby fan and regularly go to watch the Cornish Pirates play in Penzance.

When you’re not working, what is your favourite thing to do?

Spending time with my family, reading and playing piano.
