Volunteer Counsellor

Are you training as a counsellor or an experienced practitioner looking to give something back to your local community? We are looking for Volunteer Counsellors to join our Student Services team and support the wellbeing and personal development of our students.

Role Profile

As a Volunteer Counsellor, you will provide confidential, student-centred counselling support to young people, helping them build resilience, overcome challenges, and thrive in their education.

You’ll work as part of a supportive and professional team, delivering one-to-one sessions and contributing to a holistic student support service within a vibrant college environment.

Who We’re Looking For

We welcome applications from:

  • Individuals currently undertaking counselling training and seeking placement experience
  • Qualified or experienced counsellors who want to give back to the community
  • People with a passion for supporting young people’s wellbeing and development
  • You’ll need to be able to build strong, trusting relationships, work ethically, and demonstrate a commitment to professional standards.

What You’ll Be Doing

  • Delivering one-to-one counselling sessions in a safe and supportive environment 
  • Supporting students through a range of personal and emotional challenges
  • Responding to referrals and working collaboratively with Student Services
  • Maintaining accurate, confidential records
  • Working in line with the BACP Ethical Framework and College procedures 
  • Participating in team meetings, training, and reflective practice

Key Information

  • Location: Callywith College, Bodmin
  • Hours: Flexible / to be agreed
  • Weeks: Primarily term time (with some additional availability) 
  • DBS: Enhanced Disclosure required
