The Level 3 Extended Diploma in Performing & Production Arts is designed to provide students with the knowledge, skills and understanding necessary to access and progress to degree level study or employment in the performing arts. It provides an opportunity for those who have an interest in the performing arts to explore, develop and test their creativity within a qualification structure which is stimulating, demanding and provides a supportive transition from general to more specialised study.

What will I learn?

This course will be delivered via twelve units over a two-year period. Units will vary in length to ensure that the qualification provides a supportive experience as students explore the diagnostic elements of the programme in preparation for further education or employment.

You will learn a vast array of skills including how to develop and deliver a performance; how to convey a message through a performance and how to critically examine the influence of historical and contemporary influences.

You will have opportunities to explore activities and competencies within the performing arts, encouraging a personal dialogue in terms of ambitions, preferences and future progression opportunities. You will take increasing responsibility for their own learning and personal ambitions.

Assessment Arrangements

Assignments will provide the learning necessary to enable the student to achieve the assessment criteria.

This course will be delivered via twelve units over a two-year period. These units will be assessed through a combination of portfolios of evidence, assignments, and a final project.

Where will it take me?

An Extended Diploma in Performing and Production Arts can equip you for progression onto a university or drama/stage school degree or diploma course in subjects such as Drama, Acting, Musical Theatre, Dance, or Performing Arts. Other areas at university might be Media, Journalism, Events Management, Technical Theatre or Education (Teaching). If you do not wish to go into Higher Education you may find yourself able to go into employment an area of the performing arts, whether it be as a trainee or apprenticeship in backstage operations with a theatre company, front of house or teaching assistant.

What will I need?

Four GCSEs at Grade 4 to include either English Language (or Literature) and/or Maths. A Level 2 Diploma at a Merit in an appropriate subject can also be considered (plus GCSE English and/or Maths).
