Courses: Level 3 Uniformed Protective Services Extended Diploma
Previous school: Launceston College
Progression: Police Constable Degree Apprenticeship (PCDA)
What did you enjoy most about your course at Callywith?
I particularly enjoyed the week-long police work experience with Cornwall & Devon Police held at Callywith. I enjoyed learning about writing statements and paperwork they carry out, as well as leading drill and teaching it to others. The work experience is also a great CV booster alongside everything else I’ve done as it gives a better insight into the policing job that I will be joining in the future.
Why did you decide to do an apprenticeship after college?
I chose the Police Constable Degree Apprenticeship (PCDA) as it seems like the best route into the police. Learning practically and in classroom is the best mix, and im looking fowards to every part of training as well as getting my uniform!
How have Callywith supported and influenced you in your next steps?
When I applied for the role the lecturers were very supportive and offered help if it was needed, especially Matt Kennedy-Smith as he was always able to make time for my millions of questions and chats about the role.
What are you hoping to do in the future?
In the future, I would love to stay on response for a few years after the apprenticeship and maybe specialise into a role.
