Learning Support Coordinator

Salary: £27,393 Pro Rata (Scale 5, Point 25)
Contract: 37 hours per week, 40 worked weeks per year
Start date: As soon as possible

Callywith College is seeking a dedicated, compassionate and highly organised Learning Support Coordinator to join our SEND team. This is a rewarding role at the heart of helping students with additional needs succeed, thrive and feel fully included in college life.

Working closely with the SENDCo and Assistant SENDCo, you’ll play a key part in coordinating high‑quality learning support, carrying out diagnostic assessments, and delivering targeted interventions that have a real impact on learners’ confidence, wellbeing and progress.

About the Role

Role Profile

As a Learning Support Coordinator, you will:

Support Students

  • Carry out a range of diagnostic and screening assessments to identify needs.
  • Provide weekly 1:1 check‑ins to monitor wellbeing, engagement and academic progress.
  • Deliver targeted interventions in areas such as study skills, emotional regulation, social communication and independence.
  • Maintain accurate SEND records and contribute to student profiles, support plans and classroom strategies.

Coordinate Learning Support Assistants

  • Oversee daily deployment to ensure students’ needs are met.
  • Provide guidance, modelling and informal coaching to support high‑quality LSA practice.
  • Assist with rotas, student allocations and quality‑assurance processes.

Enhance Inclusion & Social Development

  • Plan and run small‑group activities that build confidence, communication and social skills.
  • Coordinate structured social spaces and safe environments for vulnerable learners.
  • Use trauma‑informed and restorative approaches to support students with SEMH needs.

Collaborate Across the College

  • Work closely with teachers, pastoral teams, parents/carers and external agencies.
  • Support the SENDCo with documentation for reviews and statutory processes.
  • Build strong relationships with Curriculum Area Leads to promote inclusive practice.

About You

We’re looking for someone who is:

Essential

  • Experienced in supporting young people with SEND.
  • Knowledgeable about learning needs, inclusive practice and evidence‑based interventions.
  • A skilled communicator able to adapt to a wide range of needs.
  • Highly organised with excellent attention to detail.
  • Calm, patient, resilient and compassionate.

Desirable

  • Relevant SEND qualifications (e.g., HLTA, Level 3+).
  • Experience of diagnostic assessments or specialist interventions.
  • Training in trauma‑informed or mental‑health‑aware approaches.
  • Understanding of FE settings, EHCP processes or statutory requirements.
