Callywith College celebrates first offer for medicine

An A level student from Saltash is celebrating this week after becoming the first student at the new Callywith College in Bodmin to be offered a place to study Medicine at University.

Cali-Mai Willett, who is studying A Level Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics at Callywith College has been offered a place at Southampton University to study medicine from this September.

In addition to her A Levels, Cali-Mai has been attending the college’s Medics Academy, which offers additional enrichment activities for students keen to pursue a career in medicine.

She said of her offer: “I’m really happy. I’ve wanted to study medicine since secondary school and I have put in a lot of hard work at College to achieve this offer.

“Callywith is a really good place to study. I attend Medic’s Academy, which has been really useful in supporting my UCAS application and preparing for interviews. The Academy is great for helping you decide if medicine is the right path for you and the teachers are fantastic and offer a lot of support.”

Callywith College Principal Mark Wardle said he and staff at the College are thrilled for Cali-Mai.

“She is an outstanding student and deserves all of her success,” he said. “She has worked extremely hard in her time with us taking full advantage of our Medics’ Academy to ensure she was as prepared as possible to make a successful application and succeed at interview.”
