Callywith prepares to welcome prospective students to second open event

On Thursday 1st February from 5pm-8pm, Callywith College in Bodmin is opening its doors once again to prospective students for its second open event since opening in September 2017.

Prospective students, their families and the local community are invited to look around the brand-new College.

Following the success of the College’s first open event in November, which saw hundreds of local people visit the Callywith campus, College staff are preparing for another busy event – especially as applications to start in September 2018 are now at 500. 

Teaching staff from a variety of subject areas will be on hand to talk about the 28 A Levels on offer including Psychology and Environmental Science and the 17 Level 2 and Level 3 Diplomas including Games, Animation & VFX Skills plus, a new course added to the 2018 offering; Travel and Tourism.

Callywith College’s Principal Mark Wardle said: “We are looking forward to welcoming visitors to the College once again for the Open Evening which will be a fantastic opportunity for our prospective students for 2018 to come and look around, meet the students and experience for themselves what Callywith College has to offer.”

Visitors will be given the opportunity to talk to the College’s very first Student Ambassadors about what college life is like and their experiences so far, as well as finding out more about what to expect as a student from the Principal in the College’s Lecture Theatre at 6:15pm.

Prospective students will also get a chance to tour the brand-new recently completed Garrow sports building containing a fantastic sports hall, gym, refectory, classrooms, learning centre and I.T suites.

The college’s refectory will be open throughout the day to showcase some of the fantastic food on offer for students and their will be a variety of demonstrations and activities including virtual reality in the games & computing department and a watt bike and other sporting challenges in the brand-new sports hall.

Applications are now open for students looking to join Callywith College in September 2018 with over 500 applications already received from students in St Austell, Liskeard, Bodmin, Bude, Callington, Fowey and Launceston all eager to secure one of the 660 places available.
