Magazine club students produce first student magazine

Callywith magazine club students have been working very hard designing and creating their first magazine - Edge - showcasing student art and photography, eye-opening articles and perspectives, as well as the top activities and events – as suggested and written by students.

Since the start of the autumn term, numerous students from across the College came together to create their first student magazine, Edge, to entertain the college population and to update them with the goings on within the county.

Edge magazine student editor Tom Oatley said: "When the magazine club first met it was agreed that the focus of the magazine would be diverted away from the intellectual demands of Level 3 education; and instead on students' creative efforts, nearby social events and important issues which matter to them. While this maybe our first issue, we are positive that over time the magazine will mould into a publication which does all of these things - and provides a temporary escape from college life.

"In the first issue of Edge magazine we discuss all things winter – from photography students’ trip to the barren and bare moorland, to jovial Christmas and New Year’s events that you, family and friends can all get involved with.

"Plus, we have an insight into the workings of, and career tips from big-wigs at leading production companies for Sky and the BBC. Not forgetting an absorbing piece of creative writing by our own deputy editor, Mariah.

"The editorial team are very grateful for those who have expressed an interest or supported us; by providing feedback or even submitting content to us."

Student contributions are the heart of the magazine, so if any Callywith students are interested in design work or have a topic they, and maybe others feel passionate about, contact lindseyk@callywith.ac.uk or go along to the college magazine club which takes place on a Wednesday in T208 between 1pm and 2:30pm.
