Exceptional students secure outstanding qualification grades
Hundreds of Callywith College’s A Level, Extended Diploma and T Level students are celebrating as they achieve excellent results and secure outstanding progression opportunities.
Our full-time A Level student cohort of around 400 students received results that collectively secured a 97.5% pass rate, with three quarters of entries being awarded A*-C grades.
Students studying Level 3 Extended Diploma and Diploma courses (equivalent to 3 A-levels) achieved equally excellent results, with 90% of the college’s cohort of approximately 350 passing with Merit grades or higher.
Students studying a T-level achieved a 100% pass rate with 94% achieving a Merit grade or higher.
Callywith College Principal Jon Grey said: “We are very proud of the results achieved by our students and it is a huge endorsement of the dedication shown by students and staff at the college over the last two years of study. The individual stories of success are what makes Level 3 results day such a great day in the college calendar."
“The vast majority of our university applicants have successfully gained entry to their first-choice institutions. Across the college, we have so many great success stories and I’d like to congratulate all our students on what they have achieved and urge them to keep in touch with the college to let us know how their next steps into employment, apprenticeship or university are going.”
Agnes is going on to study Fine Art at University of Oxford
Paige is going on to study Chemistry at Cardiff University
Agnes Wilkinson has done incredibly well, achieving A*A*A in Fine Art, Photography and Film Studies A Levels. She is now going on to study Fine Art at The Ruskin School of Art at the University of Oxford. Reflecting on her results, Agnes said: “I’m feeling relieved, excited, terrified. I worked so hard throughout my courses to achieve the best results I could, and my efforts have paid off!”
Agnes also shared how much her time at the college has contributed to her success: “Callywith was extraordinary. The staff were fantastic, I loved my classes and their teaching. I felt truly supported and encouraged throughout my time here, every step of the way. I felt my tutors really got to know me as a person – I was known and supported individually and allowed to work in my own way. This built my confidence and independence and ultimately contributed hugely to my work ethic. I’m determined to take my art as far as I can, pushing myself to explore new avenues and develop my skills further.”
Paige Hicks achieved D*D*D* in the BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma in Applied Science. Having previously attended Bodmin College, Paige is now going on to study Chemistry at Cardiff University. Reflecting on the experience at Callywith, Paige said: “It was great. All the staff were lovely and adapted to teach in a way for each individual to understand.”
Ben is planning to study Mathematics at Durham University
Thomas is going on to study Game Development: Design at Falmouth University
Ben Carey achieved an outstanding A*AAA in Maths, Further Maths, Economics and Chemistry A Levels. Having previously attended Wadebridge School, Ben is now going on to Durham University to study BSc Mathematics. He said: “My experience at Callywith was exceptional. My lecturers were very helpful with any questions that I had and gave lots of support."
Thomas Barron achieved a Distinction – the highest possible grade – in his UAL Level 3 Games Art, Animation & Development Extended Diploma. Having previously attended Pencalenick School, Thomas is now going on to study Game Development: Design at Falmouth University. Thomas described his experience at Callywith as: “Fantastic, easily the best educational experience I have ever had. I was supported in many ways, including weekly 1-1 check-ins with LSAs, and by providing ‘helper’ questions for me to answer in my essays, evaluations, and other written work.”
Callywith College has built an enviable reputation for excellence in teaching, learning and student support over the past decade. The college’s high-quality provision was re-confirmed as Outstanding by Ofsted in March 2024.
These results strengthen those credentials further and explain why the college has become the first-choice post-16 destination for young people in North and East Cornwall.
