Callywith College has seen an explosion in student numbers as the population grows to more than double that of last year.

Principal Mark Wardle is thrilled at the impressive increase in student numbers:

“I am absolutely delighted that we now have nearly 800 students at Callywith studying a wide range of A Level and vocational courses."

The dramatic rise in student numbers has created over 30 new jobs for both teaching and support staff in popular subjects such as Maths, Chemistry and English and in support teams such as Student Services. Many of the new staff have moved from Truro & Penwith College who opened Callywith in September 2017 to meet the overwhelming demand for places at the college.

Archie Ely chose to study at Callywith College this year for the Games, Animation & VFX Skills vocational course and the exciting new opportunities it would open to him. Archie is enjoying the start of term, saying:

“The transition to Callywith has been easy because there are so many helpful staff here. My lessons so far have been amazing and I’m really looking forward to the rest of my time at Callywith.”

Following the fantastic results achieved from the first year of students, this year Callywith College are delivering A2 Level and vocational Extended Diploma studies for the first time.

Callywith are expecting bright futures for those returning for their second year after outperforming national averages in 24 subjects in 2017.

Second year student Teneisha, who studies A Level Biology, Chemistry and Psychology, and hopes to study medicine at university, spoke of how happy she is to be back at College:

“It’s great to be back at College and reconnect with all the friends I have made since I started here. The start of my second year is going well, all the lecturers and support staff have been really helpful and friendly as I settle into my new classes and timetable.”

With an excellent start to the term and both first and second year students enjoying College life, Callywith College is looking forward to another outstanding year.

Later this month, the College will be launching its 2019 prospectus for students looking to join the College in September 2019.
