Students receive outstanding university offers

A Level, BTEC, UAL and T Level students at Callywith College have bright futures on the horizon as they receive excellent university offers from across the country.

Agnes Wilkinson, who is studying A Levels in Fine Art, Film Studies and Photography, has so far received three offers with her top choice being Oxford University, where she hopes to study Fine Art.

Agnes shared: “I'm immensely proud and excited to have received an offer from Oxford. I worked so hard getting everything together for their early application process -- it was a crazy ride, ridiculously stressful, but exhilarating, too. I visited Oxford last July for an open day, met the art tutors, and realised it was where I wanted to be in order to develop my art further. I've always been driven, wilful and a little bit wild, and I honestly think all of these things are going to contribute to my future in the arts, and at university.”

She shared her experience at the college: “Callywith literally changed my life. My lecturers, as well as the SEN team, have been absolutely incredible and I am so, so grateful to all of them for supporting a drained, exhausted, terrified sixteen-year-old so well, allowing her to grow back into herself. I've been able to make artworks that mean something to me, artworks that have been exhibited in London, artworks that were included in my university portfolio; I've been given so much fantastic guidance on where to go next, too. The college has been amazing. I'm thrilled at how far I've come.”

Ella Hillier Cholwill, a BTEC Level 3 Sport student, has received four offers, with her top choice being University of Gloucestershire to study Physiotherapy.

Ella, who previously attended Budehaven Community College, shared: “I am really excited about going to university and meeting new people.

“My time at Callywith has made me realise that I would love to go and explore more, my tutor has been so helpful and persuaded me to take my education further.”

Chloe Rossington-Watson, one of the first cohort of our T Level Education and Early Years students, has received an offer to study Community, Youth and Families at Plymouth Marjon University.

Chloe, a former Budehaven student, shared: “I'm excited to learn about how to support/work with young people, and through both my volunteering and early years experiences working with families, to hopefully go on to make the same positive impact on others that so many have made on me.

“When I first came to Callywith, I was set on becoming a primary teacher and didn't want to explore other options. During my time at college, I was able to explore more job opportunities, as well as being able to reflect on how much different professionals had made an impact on my life as I've grown into the person I am today. This made me want to be able to do the same with more of a focus on the support aspect within education. After university, I hope to complete a PGCE in Primary Teaching, giving me the opportunity to support children and young people outside of academics, as well as help shape young minds within the classroom environment.”
