Level 2 English & Maths with Creative Pathway

The Level 2 English & Maths with Creative Pathway is an exciting, hands-on course designed for students who want to explore creativity and develop practical skills across a range of art and design disciplines.

This course is ideal if you:

• Enjoy making, experimenting, and learning through making.
• Want to build confidence in your creative abilities.
• Are considering further study in art, design, or a related subject
• Prefer practical coursework to written exams.
• You will be supported in discovering your strengths, trying new techniques, and developing a strong foundation for future creative study.

You will explore a broad range of creative areas while developing key skills such as drawing, visual research, idea development, and practical making.

Students will have access to specialist facilities, including:

• Fine Art studios for drawing, painting, and mixed media.
• Print studio with opportunities to explore processes such as relief and screen printing.
• Photography studio and darkroom, learning both digital and traditional photographic techniques.
• Digital illustration and graphic design suite, using industry-standard software.

Alongside practical skills, you will learn how to:

• Generate and develop creative ideas.
• Use materials, tools, and processes safely.
• Record and reflect on your work.
• Present finished outcomes confidently.

This course is 100% coursework based. There are no written exams.

Assessment is made through:

• Practical project work
• Sketchbooks and visual research
• Development of ideas and outcomes

 Work is assessed against criteria set by the University of the Arts London and internally assessed by tutors, with external moderation to ensure national standards are met.

On successful completion of the course, students can progress to:

• A Level 3 course in Art and Design or a related creative subject.
• Further education or training pathways.
• Creative vocational routes.

The course helps students decide which creative area they may want to specialise in at a higher level.

You will be supported throughout the course by experienced tutors who specialise in art and design.

Support includes:

• Regular one-to-one tutorials and feedback.
• Help with organisation, time management, and confidence building.
• Access to learning support where required.
• Guidance on progression to further study or training.

We aim to create a supportive, inclusive environment where every student can develop at their own pace.

Entry requirements for this course are a minimum of three GCSEs at grade 3, including English and Maths and another subject at grade 4. No prior art qualifications are required, just enthusiasm and commitment.

Awarding Body: UAL

This is a practical, studio-based course. Students will work on themed projects that encourage creativity and personal expression. Trips, workshops, and visiting artists may be included where possible.
