Bursaries

Callywith subsidises the cost of our bespoke transport for all students and offers significant bursaries to further reduce the costs for students from lower income households.

Bursary and Subsidised Bus Pass 2025-26

We can provide bursaries to contribute towards bus pass costs based on total net annual household income at the following rates:

Band A Bursary (Up to £16,000)  Annual pass £85 with bursary discount of £1,165*

Band B Bursary (£16,001 - £24,000)  Annual cost £256 with bursary discount of £994*

Band C Bursary (£24,001 - £36,000)  Annual cost of £427 with bursary discount of £823*

Band D Bursary (£36,001 - £50,000)  Annual cost of £769 with bursary discount of £427*

Band E subsidised rate (above £50,000)  Annual cost of £854 with subsidy of £396*

*Based on purchasing an annual pass compared with the average cost per space across the whole Callywith College bus network in 2025-26 of £1250 per space. Purchasing termly passes will increase the cost per journey when compared to the annual passes. Anyone earning over £50,000 does not need to complete a bursary application form. The subsidy will be applied automatically.

These bursary discounts are available on application and dependent upon a minimum of 90% attendance each term for financial help the following term.

Bursary Applications 2025-26

If you are an existing student or a September 2025 applicant and think you are eligible for a bursary for the year Sept 2025 – Aug 2026, you will need to complete a 2025-26 Bursary Application on the Student Bursary Portal.

Bursary applications will be live from Thursday 1st May 2025.

To apply for a bursary, you will need to register for an account using your Student ID number (available on the Applications Portal) and date of birth, then complete the bursary application, confirming your household income and uploading proof of income.

The closing date for bursary applications to guarantee processing in time for the release of bus passes is Friday 30th May 2025.

The closing date for bursary applications to guarantee processing in time for the start of the autumn term is Friday 1st August 2025.

Bus passes for September 2025 will be available to purchase from Friday 6th June 2025.
