A Level Film Studies
Film Studies offers the chance to gain hands-on experience of filmmaking and explore film language, history, theory and criticism. You will study a wide variety of topics including classical Hollywood, contemporary American, Independent film, UK and European cinema, film aesthetics, narrative, genre, ideology, contexts and spectatorship. Those who study it characteristically bring with them a high degree of enthusiasm for what is a powerful and culturally significant medium, inspiring a range of responses from the emotional to the reflective.

They shape our perceptions of the world through the representations, ideas and points of view they offer and have real relevance and importance in our lives today, providing us with ways to communicate, forms of cultural expression and the ability to participate in key aspects of society.

Photography is an art of observation. It has little to do with the things you see and everything to do with the way you see them. It is a powerful language which speaks to our emotions. It allows us to tell our story and show others our framing of the world around us. A Level Photography will provide opportunities to engage in a broad range of projects that encourage creativity, investigation, analysis and experimentation as a means of developing technical, creative and critical skills.
